Whether your jewelry is 14K gold plated, 925 Sterling Silver, Rhodium, or Solid 14K Gold there are important steps to know for maintaining a bright shine. Taking care of your jewelry properly will ensure you get the most out of your pieces, and it can be simple to do once you know the right steps. Continue reading for how to keep your jewelry at it's best.

Taking Care of Your Solid 14K Gold and 14K Gold Plated Jewelry

When thinking about maintaining your gold jewelry in it's best condition, there are two primary considerations: preventative care and remedial care. To prevent external wear and tear, always keep your solid 14K gold, and 14K gold plated pieces concealed in a safe, dry place when not being worn (e.g. small plastic or cloth bag). The 14K gold plated jewelry's plating protects the 925 Sterling Silver core from oxidation, and is still best kept out of the elements if not being worn. While all of our jewelry is water and sweat resistant, we encourage you to avoid chlorinated water or household chemicals (bleach, fragrances, cosmetics, etc.) with your 14K gold plated pieces. The following steps will guide you through the remedial care necessary to polish your jewelry.

1. Wash with Jewelry Cleaner or Dish Detergent*

Apply a small amount of jewelry cleaner solution (or dish detergent that does not contain lemon or added scents) to a soft cloth or microfiber towel. Use that to gently rub the jewelry several times until thoroughly covered.

2. Rinse with Warm Water

Thoroughly rinse your jewelry in warm, not hot water. Ensure all cleaning solution and/or detergent is completely rinsed away.

3. Dry Your Jewelry

Use a separate, dry soft cloth or microfiber towel to pat your jewelry dry.

Taking Care of Your 925 Sterling Silver and Rhodium Jewelry

For storage and preventative care you should treat 925 Sterling Silver and Rhodium like you do gold, and always keep your 925 Sterling Silver piece concealed in a safe, dry place when not being worn. When left out, the silver is susceptible to oxidation which can result in tarnishing. While all of our jewelry is water and sweat resistant, we encourage you to avoid chlorinated water or household chemicals (bleach, fragrances, cosmetics, etc.) with your 925 Sterling Silver and Rhodium pieces.

1. Wash with Jewelry Cleaner, Dish Detergent*, or Baking Soda

Apply a small amount of jewelry cleaner solution, dish detergent (*without added scents), or baking soda mixed with warm water (this will turn into a paste) to a soft cloth or microfiber towel.
